Political Action
Our union is fighting for working families every day to protect pensions, safety standards, fight for affordable healthcare, prevailing rate, and real apprenticeship programs. The difference between electing representatives, who understand what's important to working families, and representatives who want to take away our voice and our paychecks, is just a few votes. Often, your vote makes the difference. In the last election, anti-worker representatives were defeated by very small majorities - just a few votes in each neighborhood made the difference. The first step in making our voices heard is to register and vote. But many union members aren't registered. Remember that every time you move, you must re-register. Call for a voter registration card, or pick one up any union office. Your voice makes a difference.
This is not about Republicans and Democrats. It’s about candidates who stand with working families on issues that affect our lives, our parents, and our children's futures. It's time for working people to get informed , get involved and make our country a nation that respects workers and rewards work.
We need Volunteers. The Local needs help for voter registration drives, get out the vote campaigns, phone banks, visibilitydays, writing politicians on key issues, etc.
Also, if you haven't already signed a voluntary PAC-COPE card, please do so!
Help us to rebuild the union movement and to make more job opportunities for our members.
